01-Nov-2001 -- I visited this DCP on a beautiful fall afternoon after working in Duchesne, UT. I saw deer and antelope along the way. The flora is typical of the high mountain desert found in northern Arizona, eastern Utah, southwest Wyoming and southeast Idaho, with one exceptional difference. This is oil-producing country. There are pumping wells and storage facilities in great abundance. Much of the local economy is based on the well servicing industry.
The closest town is Rangely, CO, a beautiful small town near the White River. The DCP was found after driving west along the river and then a bit south. Arriving at the point involved a bit of a climb up a steep hill, but there were many deer trails to follow, so the ascent was not difficult.
I returned to Rangely after visiting the point. The town provides a hospital, public schools and a community college. I saw a beautiful sunset while there.
It was a great day!
