21-Nov-2001 -- November 21, 2001 was a day for Roger Kehm (KØROG) & Clem Tucker (NØRFS) to combine Amateur Radio & DCP activities in east central South Dakota. We had lunch in the nearby town of Woonsocket with a friend, Jeff Larson, and then drove to the vicinity of 44N-98W (3.8 miles WSW of Artesian, Sanborn County, SD).
The day was super -- clear blue sky, temperature in the mid 60's in early afternoon and no wind. A fine day to be out and about.
44N-98W proved to be a level field of grazing/hay land
and fenced with barb wire. There was a farmstead nearby and we drove there to ask permission of the land owner so that we could document the site. We introduced ourselves as "Not
pheasant hunters" and explained the DCP concept. He said that he didn't own the land and tried to call a neighbor who
did own it -- no answer. Then he said -- "Get in my pick-up
and I'll drive you over there". (Golly, we should have it so good!!).
This land owner, Brian Moore, was most friendly and we
were very grateful for the ride with him from his farmstead
(43-59.759N & 97-59.285W) about 1/2 mile west and 1/4 mile north through the field to 44N-98W. We parked, crawled a barb wire fence and walked a few hundred feet to the site. The 2 GPS's we were using agreed very closely.

Picture #2 - The GPS reading - tough to get in the bright sunlight and reflections in the early afternoon.

Picture #6 - Roger Kehm (KØROG) - Brian Moore (a land owner, our driver, host and all around nice guy) - Clem Tucker (NØRFS) at 44N-98W.
And we thank Brian Moore and his wife Terry for helping make our day productive and enjoyable.
