28-Dec-2001 -- As all the confluence points had been hunted in Hungary I was looking for the nearest to Budapest. This was in Slovenia, where one of the 2 points hadn’t been visited yet. I took two friends of mine with me and off we drove.
We travelled through Croatia where we missed some turns so it became a real long trip to get there. We were afraid not to arrive there before sunset.
But we did it. The point is in a beautiful area of this small country. Among snow covered mountains, the road led along a river, fantastic view, nice people.
After leaving Celje, the 4th biggest town, the last 10 kms we had to do in a real narrow road. Everything covered with snow.
We only had the maps provided by this site, and they were in some ways not very useful, and the GPS showing the direction was a great help, though.
Luckily we only had to walk about 200 meters in the woods and we quickly found the point near the village called Brezovo (not even mentioned on our map).
We took the fotos quickly, so we didn’t have to find our way back in the dark forest.
We had difficulties to take a real good foto of the GPS showing we were in fact there, I hope you can see it.
This was our first confluence point but hopefully not the last. Spending a lot of years in Germany I want to find some more there.
