27-Jan-2002 -- We (Ed Juline and Antonio Rojas) headed out on a sunny Sunday afternoon to the Mexican state of Michocan to find this confluence.

There aren't a lot of great maps of Mexican highways, so we knew where we were generally going but knew that the GPS would have to get us the last ten kilometers. We luckily kept finding paved roads leading us closer and closer until we got to the town of San Jose de Gracia with about two kilometers to go. Then it became a rat maze winding our way through the town trying to find a street leading closer to the confluence. We weren't too crazy about hiking more than a kilometer at 2050 meters (6725 feet) in 28 degree Celius (85 degrees Farenheit) heat (That's right, 28 degrees in January in the mountains!!)

We finally went out the backside of the town and found a dirt road leading to Rancho San Martin, a dairy farm. This put us within 300 meters. We grabbed our gear and headed out over fairly easy terrain. Two four foot stone walls later and we were in the open field containing the confluence.

It turned out to be a "cowfluence" because this field is used by the dairy as a grazing field. The confluence ended up being right in the exact center of three dried cow patties. Coincidence? I think not....

If you do ever decide to visit the "cowfluence", there is a pile of rocks under the bush next to the cowfluence. Under the rocks you might find something very traditional to Mexico. Please take a sip and leave the rest for future visitors.......
