Coming from Birchip in Victoria, we headed up the Sunraysia Highway to Ouyen and then took the Calder Highway into Mildura where we refueled. We crossed the Murray River into NSW at Buronga and then took Fletchers Lake Road shortly after Dareton.
This area has lots and lots of vineyards growing sultana grapes for table grapes, dried sultanas and bulk/cask wine. As we drove past several vineyards on Fletchers Lake Road, I was hoping the confluence might be in a vineyard, but it wasn’t to be.
The confluence is in some generic grazing country a few kilometres off the road. Some tracks got me within about 1 km, but we couldn’t find any gates in the fence, so I had to walk from that point.
