14-Mar-2002 -- This confluence was just off of I-5 near the Kettleman City exit. In the small town take the A paved road that goes down the street and back over the freeway. Just over the freeway a gate with a no tresspassing sign was there but the gate was open and a paved road went beyond this point. A man in a pickup came by from the opposite side of the gate and asked what we were doing and we told him. He was a retired oil company worker out inspecting the oil fields. He said go ahead as the road is on public land. Anyway someone had broken the locks. We left the car and walked to the end of the paved road about ¾ mile and the confluence was just up a ridge from there. It was in a abondened oil field just across the freeway from the little city of Kettleman City .
