20-Apr-2002 -- The confluence at 38N118W is not really near anything significant, but quite easy to get to. Six or seven miles west of US 95 on US 6, NV 773 goes south. This confluence lies about 115 feet from NV 773 only a mile or so south of the junction with US 6. As you can see, the environment here is wide open desert. Photo #1 is the view to the north. Photo #2 is Jack in a view to the south. Photo #3 shows Barb, my navigator, in a view looking east. In photo #4, Emma (my Explorer) can be seen close by parked at the side of NV 773 in the view looking west. Photo #5 shows all zeros on my GPSR. For the record, remnants of the cairn mentioned by Kieth Gawlik in his visit were still there about 6 feet north of where I determined the confluence to be (certainly within the EPE of 5 meters indicated on my GPSR).
