01-May-2002 -- As I explained at 46N 83W, I was only able to scout a few not yet visited confluences from the main highway during our 4,000 km trip from Halifax, NS to Winnipeg, MB. This was because our car was heavily loaded with our clothes and other personal items; and we had SNOW on April 26, April 28 and May 2 – this was not supposed to happen during our trip, but this is Canada!

According to Mapquest, this confluence appears to be only about 1.5 km east of the Trans-Canada highway where it loops around an arm of Nipigon Bay. I did not stop to take pictures here, but immediately east of the highway at this point is a small mountain that appears to go almost straight up – I would guess about 200 feet.

I saw two possible access routes to this confluence (I didn’t drive up either of them.) A two-wheel track leads north-east off the highway about a kilometer or two ‘east’ of the closest highway point (still along the eastern shore of this small bay.) A signed business access road (probably a lumber business) leads off the highway west of the closest point, just at the head of the small bay.
