06-Jul-2002 -- This narrative continues from 32N84W.
2:30 pm - 98 degrees and still cooking in central Georgia, headed for 33 north, 84 west, via I-75 and Macon.
A quick stop for watermelon and we continued northward. The confluence is southwest of the small town of Forsyth. The paved highway gets within 500 meters of the confluence, and a logging road takes you directly to the spot, perhaps by design. We took the photos, and headed back to the car.
We made the decision at this point to end the trip, for a variety of reasons, the number being that I'd been driving for 18 hours straight, and the heat was taking its toll on both of us. At 4:30pm, we bowed out, having attempted 5 confluences in one day, and having reached 4 confluences successfully.
One weekend soon we'll try and improve our record and nab atleast six of the remaining Georgia confluences in one day. I'm pretty sure this is a realistic goal, because we defintely could have gotten six before nightfall, and maybe even seven. Although one at a time is just as rewarding.
