14-Jun-2002 -- We were holidaying in Dunsborough when I realised we were within 40km of this confluence. A quick check revealed it had actually been attempted but the attempt fell about 40m short due to thick bush and the possibility of snakes. Being winter, I figured snakes weren't going to be a problem this time of year so I decided it was worth a try.
We actually ended up parking some distance from the confluence and walking the rest of the way, I hadn't paid attention to the fact that a road went right past it.
The 34 degree northing (latitude)intersects the road at right angles and at this point the GPS was indicating the confluence to be to the east, about 40m in through thick coastal scrub.
I managed to find a bit of a break in the scrub on the roadside and some 15 minutes later after fighting my through the scrub my GPS was showing the magical numbers.
Photo #1 shows the GPS with the magical numbers.
Subsequent photos are general pictures to the north, east, south, & west showing the thick scrub.
At this point I realised I had knocked my mobile phone out of my pocket. A quick backtrack (I wasn't entirely sure what path I had taken) didn't reveal anything so we had to walk back to the car, drop Tricia off at a public phone where she could call the mobile, then drive back to the confluence and try and listen for the phone as it rang.
The plot worked and I retrieved my phone on the first ring, fortunately I had left it turned on, it was on the loudest setting, and it was within range (some networks don't have coverage here).
All in all a successful day.
