24-Aug-2002 -- This confluence point was successfully visited on 24 August 2002 by Ferdi Schenck, Fanie Louw and his sister Leanie Louw. After we failed to reach the confluence point we planned to visit for the weekend, we decided to drive a few extra kilometres to attempt another unvisited point.

We travelled via Pietersburg (Polokwane) on the R71 past Haenertsburg and then took the R528 in the direction of Tzaneen. The confluence point occurs in a mountainous area, and if you are near the area you might think that the point could be somewhere in the mountains. From information gained from a 1:50,000 map, we knew that the point was to be found in Georges Valley at the foot of two mountain peaks, Iron Crown (alt. 2126 m) and Serala (alt. 2050 m). According to the map there was a dirt road, which served some farms and commercial tree-plantations, which passed close to the point.

We turned off the tarred road and followed the directions of our GPS, driving through beautiful scenery, sometimes next to the Mohlapitsi river. After a while we got very close to the point and got out of the car. We walked a couple of metres up a hill, which was planted with Eucalyptus and pine trees, and found the confluence point right in the plantation. We were sure that this had to be it, as we had three GPS instruments with us and estimated positional error was 4 metres.

About 5 km east of the Iron Crown Mountain, the highest peak in the Limpopo Province (2126 m).
