02-Sep-2002 -- This confluence is in the Rye Creek drainage, that was burned during the forest fires of 2000. However, the confluence site is not in a burned area, and is located in an open ponderosa pine forest, close to a 1966 douglas fir plantation (see how slowly trees grow in the country!).
The cache is an easy hike from the road, which is rutted and bumpy in places. In September, the Forest Service road was easily drivable in a two wheel drive car.
