02-Oct-2002 -- We drove 2.5 hours from McCall Idaho to the Thunder Mountain Mine area. We camped the first night near the trailhead at around 8200 feet. The temperature dropped to the low teens during the night. From the trailhead we backpacked 7 miles and set up camp 3 miles from the confluence at around 6700 feet. We hiked to the confluence, which was located on a ridge line at an elevation of 6534 feet, and that overlooked a vast unroaded area in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. After spending the night we hiked back to the truck and drove out - mission accomplished.
"It gives me a good feeling knowing that I was able to show a gummy worm a little piece of the wilderness" - Joe Lambiotte.
