26-Nov-2000 -- This was the second of two confluences we attempted over Thanksgiving 2000 weekend. As you can tell, we got to it just after sundown, and it was quite a race to make it there by sundown. We were doing 60-65 MPH across bumpy and winding desert trails to get there. By the map, it is three or four miles off the highway, but by trail, it is about 10 miles. Once you get off the highway, we headed south for several miles, until we got to a corral and windmill, where we took a trail that leads north towards the confluence. We sped north on the trail, and as we got within a mile of it, we took a short side trail that took us onto a dry lake bed. That made for easy travelling, and we were able to drive to withing 300 feet of the conflunce. It is possible to drive right to it, but there are no trails, and I practice the "Tread Lightly" rules. So, we parked, and walked the last bit, and did the thing with the camera. The area is nothing special. There are several wells and corrals in the area, as it is open ranch/range. The confluence is just to the NE of a large lake bed, as shown on the map. In the mountains about 15 miles WNW, there are some ruins of a mining town called Reveille, which I visited several years ago before I knew of the Confluence Project. The nearest town is Rachel, NV, home of the famous "Area 51" sightings. In Rachel you can spend the night at the little A' le Inn motel. You can sit down in the bar/restaurant and discuss the latest findings with other alien seekers. I am not into the "Area 51" thing myself, but I have stopped in before.
