07-May-2003 -- Our attempt of conquest of the point 63N-34E (Pic 1) was spontaneous. After riding the small river Unitsa Projdja, and having caught on it white water (Pic 2, Pic 3), we sat at the station of the city of Medvezhyegorsk waiting for trains.

Having brought the GPS receiver, and having found out that the point is only 25 kms southwest of the city, we thought: But can it be?

We think, and act. We catch the train and continue forward. The road ended, and the point was still 1,5km away. The backpack holding the camera was on the back, the receiver was in the hands, and we began the cross-country race on rugged terrain.

We were 180 meters short of reaching the point, since the road was blocked with the river (Pic 4, Pic 5). Lack of time (there were only 1,5 hours before departure of a train) has not given an opportunity to find to a way of detour and to approach closer.

07-May-2003 -- Попытка покорения точки 63N-34E (Фото 1) была спонтанной. Пройдя речку Уница и поймав на ней белую воду (Фото 2, Фото 3), мы сидели на вокзале города Медвежьегорска в ожидании поезда.

Включив GPS приемник и обнаружив, что точка находится всего лишь в 25 км северо-западнее города,мы подумали: А может быть ?

Подумано-сделано. Ловим машину и вперед. Дорога закончилась, а до точки еще 1,5км. Рюкзак с фотоаппаратом за спину, приемник в руки и крос по пересеченной местности.

Не доходя до точки 180 метров, дорогу преградила река (Фото 4, Фото 5). Недостаток времени (оставалось всего лишь 1,5 часа до отправления поезда) не дал возможности найти пути обхода и подойти ближе.
