12-Jul-2003 -- For our 1st confluence visit this one turned out remarkably well, all things considered! This Confluence actually lies within the boundaries of Tarangire National Park, just a few kilometers from a place called "Bwawa Mbili", which is Swahili for "Two Watering Holes" (bwawa = pool, mbili = two).
Lauren and I left Arusha, where we live, on Friday afternoon and stayed at Oliver's Camp, which is owned and run by a friend of ours. Saturday morning we headed out west, towards the Confluence, as we planned to visit the Confluence first and then drive out of the park on the West side to carry on with our trip.
We were lucky enough that there was a road that allowed us to drive to within 820 meters of the point but we were not able to get to it exactly as it is illegal to drive off-road or walk unescorted in the park!
