(visited by Frank Dahlslett and Ingeborg Kamsvåg)

23-Jul-2003 -- 23-july 2003. Summer holiday and 3 weeks off. The whole summer had been a good weather experience with temperatures from 25 to 30 ºC. With a little change in the weather (cooler) we decided to go for the confluence point of N65 E12. Starting out from Trondheim on the 22 of July we drove 290km north to the boundary of Nordland county up to the municipal of Bindal.

We had considered two alternative routes to the confluence, but when we arrived and saw the wild and rugged terrain we excluded one of the alternatives. The chosen route was then 7 km, as the crow flies, crossing two lakes (Saglivatnet and Markavatnet). Walking around these lakes would make the trip approx. 11 km long. We checked in at a camping site (Svaberget Camping) 650 meters from Saglivatnet and spend the night there. The owner offered us to rent a boat so that we could shorten the trip (Saglivatnet is 4 km long). He also told us that we might find a barge at the next lake, making the trip even shorter.

The next morning it was pouring down, so we decided to sleep a little longer. At 11 o'clock the rain had stopped and we drove to Saglivatnet, jumped into the boat and took off. At the other end of the lake we landed our boat nearby the stream (Svarvåa) coming down from the next lake (25 m height difference). The walk to Markavatnet was a 1.5 km trip through dence and wet vegetation. Soacking wet we arrived at the lake, happily finding the barge allowing us to row further on 2 km.

The rest of the trip was a piece of cake. Only 300 m from the shore, up hill, we found the confluence of N65 E12. Along the way up we found a beautiful turf hut and some cloudberries (multebær).
