16-Aug-2003 -- This Confluence lies in the serbian part of the "Banat" one of the oldest and most beautiful cultural landscapes in this part of europe, whose history goes back even behind the Habsburg empire.
We did this confluence on our way back home fom visiting the confluences in Macedonia. We decided to make this confluence, because we had plenty of time at our disposal, we would otherwise have spend sitting around, waiting for the train from Belgrad back to Graz. We bought some bus tickets to Banatski Karlovac, a small town about five kilometers from the confluence.
Three of the five kilometers, we had to hike to the confluence, lead us through huge sunflower and corn fields, which at first seemed to stretch up to the confluence point.
The heat was almost unbearable. But after 90 minutes of hiking at a distance of two kilometers from the confluence the fields ended apruptly, followed by a endless succession of small hills, covered with high gras and dried up shrubs, rose hip, hazel bushes, what appeared to be crooked small maples, and many more plants i didn't recognise.
We feared, that the confluence would be located in some impenetrable thicket, as the vegetation got ever more dense as we proceeded, but at last we reached the confluence detouring through a small wood.
On our way back we asked farmers picking apricots and plums in a plantation about 1,5 kilometers from the confluence for some water. We looked so exhausted, all sweating and covered with dust, that they gave us some of their fruits (the best I've ever tasted!), packed us in their car and drove us back to Benatski Karlovac.
