24-Feb-2001 -- This confluence was not more then a 35 min. drive from my home. The
day was overcast when I started just south of the bridge over Six Mile Creek
(photo 2, N32°59.861 W86°59.612). I am using a topo supplied from TopoZone &
a GPS to locate the conflunce. I started crossing a field heading east (photo 3) to
my first major point on the topo which is a bend in the creek
(photo 4, N32°59.890 W86°59.826). This hike will require a machete to cross the
numerous brier patches along the way.
After leaving the bend in the creek, the hike traverses over a small hill, turning
east-northeast. Staying with the creek, I crossed the reading N33° and turned due
west to locate W87°. The conflunce is located just up on the side of the small hill
you walk over (photo 1). This is a dense wooded area and the photos of the
surroundings were not very good. Thank goodness it did not rain.
