09-Oct-2000 -- Things went so well this morning at
getting 30N 82W I decided to go to 30N 85W. This would give me a total
of 7 visits and 1 attempt. Not bad for a weekend of tromping around
Florida back roads. From Stark we took some short cuts East until we
picked up HWY 27, which we took to Perry, Fl. In Perry we picked up HWY
98. At around 29 55N 84 24W Hwy 98 runs close to the water. This has
got to be one of the most scenic areas in the country. Places like
Carrabelle and Apalachicola where most commercial activities evolve
around fishing. There are no better Oysters anywhere than those that
come from Apalachicola.
The map does not give a lot of clues as to what to expect around this
target. The elevation is very low with a lot of areas that indicate that
it may be possible that the target is in a marsh. As I turn north on SR
65, the actual terrain looks, as I was afraid it would. To my pleasant
surprise when I arrive at the little gray road that leads to the target
I find it to be a very passable dirt road. We continue down this road
to find that the Target ends up being in the middle of an Oasis. The
target is in the middle of a well-manicured Federal Camp Ground complete
with a sign that says "Welcome to Lake Wright."
After we take our pictures we head home but not before stopping in Ft
Walton for a well deserved ICE CREAM!!
