17-Nov-2003 -- I contacted a tour guide in Quito (Surtrek) to take us to visit this confluence that appeared to be accessible. It is rainy season here in Ecuador and the roads could be quite muddy, thus we needed a 4x4.
Being outside the small town of San Miguel de Los Bancos, the confluence falls in the western "cloud forest" of the Andes. However, this cloud forest has now been turned into cattle farms. The confluence is near a dirt road between San Miguel de los Bancos and Santo Domingo de los Colorados (or "de los Colombianos" like some locals like to call it). We passed many farms and well, the confluence is located in one of these, about a half a mile from the road.
