17-Dec-2003 -- The visit was made during a short visit as a consultant to a European Union technical assistance project in Termez, Uzbekistan. I told my interpreter what we were doing but he decided to tell the others on the farm visit that we were hunting for gold. Maybe the word will get out and there will be a queue of minors visiting the site – at least the lat and log are simple!

The nearest road was only 800 metres from the confluence but we had to cross a small river to reach the site – paddling in December is not so good. The region has snow now but reaches 55 C in the summer.

The confluence is the first to be visited in Uzbekistan. Country number 133.
