25-Jan-2004 -- After my pal Grant Hopcraft bagged his solo at 2S 34E and Mr. Steiner knocked down 9S 34E and 7S 36E, I thought it was time to do a little house cleaning to get ready for the 2004 Confluence Hunting Season. 3S 37E has been staring us in the face for some time now and, with all due respect to Mr. Andåker who visited the site in March of 2001 but with dead batteries in his GPS, the point has been in sore need of a proper visit.

We set out from Arusha mid-morning on Sunday and drove out to Sanya town, which is along the main Arusha-Moshi road. From there we headed north to Sanya Juu, past Ngare-Nairobi a bit where we turned west down a track that would lead us to the back side of Ndarakwai Ranch where the CP is located.

We drove down a bumpy track through a Maasai boma and got to within 3 kilometers of the point. We decided to jump out and enjoy a nice walk in some great territory and knock down the CP on foot. During certain times of the year, this area can be filled with game including lots of elephant, but we were only lucky enough to see a few zebra, wildebeest, and two waterbuck. The CP also happens to be very close to the Ndarakwai Ranch, about a kilometer at most.

We dropped in on the CP from the North and after spending some time trying to zero the GPS, we cracked a couple of fine, cold, Kilimanjaro beers and enjoyed the nice view from the CP. On the way back to town, Mt. Kilimanjaro decided to show itself, a nice treat to end the day and to cap-off a bread-and-butter CP.
