05-Jul-2004 -- The point is located at Edamon, in Quilon District in Kerala. The group that visited the confluence were Dr Abraham Chacko, Mrs Neena Abraham, Mr Jacob Chacko, Miss Liza Chacko and Dr Michael Sebastian.
Four of us left from Kurumannu in Kottayam District at 8.30 am. We drove to Punalur which is the nearest town to the confluence. At Punalur, we were joined by Dr Michael Sebastian and we drove to 600 metres of the confluence. We then trekked the last stretch through paddy fields, rubber estates, and were helped by extremely friendly and polite locals. We spoke the same language and this made progress easier and we came within 42 m of the confluence point and realised that we would have to cross a canal to reach the point. Fortunately, there was a bridge over the canal and we reached the confluence easily and got 'all zeroes' on our GPS. Taking photographs of the GPS reading was not easy. We finally took all the necessary photographs and also of neighbouring houses and its inmates.
We took a 'Jeep' taxi back to where we had parked our cars. The area is crisscrossed by high voltage electricity cables and the confluence point is only 50 metres away from a railway line. We got a feeling of great satisfaction that our mission was accomplished to perfection. We drove to Dr Sebastian's house, where his mother had prepared a sumptious meal. After a period of relaxation, we left Dr Sebastian's house at 7.30 pm and drove to Trivandrum.
