25-Jul-2004 -- Our plan for the day was to succeed at two visits in one day, so we set off from Bursa. We travelled over Doğancı Dam towards Orhaneli. Before Orhaneli, we turned into local village roads, heading towards Topuk village. The Confluence was to be found north of this village, so we carried on along earth roads heading northeast from Topuk towards Göynükbelen. We stopped the car and started climbing after a few minutes of driving on this road.
We started climbing for about 100 m, but then we did not go any further because we were not dressed up to the occasion (thorny plants and lots of flying insects meant that we needed long trousers, long sleeves and proper boots, not sandals). We took photos of the GPS readings. The Confluence was ahead of us behind this hill, so rather than climbing over it we decided that it would be better to try access from the other side of the hill, which is between Topuk and Osmaniye villages. We also took a picture of the view south, as the Confluence was around 1400 m behind us.
Better luck and better preparing for us next time. After that, we paid a successful visit to 39N 29E.
