07-Aug-2004 -- After doing the 29N 78E at around 1:30 pm we started for 30 78. While on the way we had to carry an injured person to the hospital as some vehilce had hit him on the higway. We finally reached haridwar, the holy city on the banks of River Ganges.

The point 30 78 was hardly 15-16 kms from there and it was already 5:30 pm. The maps were not suffciently accurate enough to tell us where that point would be but we then relied on our GPS and took the vehicle in the direction provided by GPS. Finally reached a village called Aanekki, which was around 2 kms away from the 30 78. Our vehicle finally had to be left behind on the dry river bed. 30 78 was there in front os us at 1.7 kms away in the foothills.

A long walk on the river bed and then a dirt track took us near to the CP and we were within 300 meters of it but those 300 meters were in a patch of forest. Our knowledge of Bush-craft came handy as we started moving inside the forest. After around 30 mins we reached at the point but once again the exact CP was as illusive as always. Too much humidity and low light hurried us back to the vehicle after taking shots of GPS and panorama of the place. It was quite dark when we reached the vehile and while coming back to delhi which was another 4 hours drive, our vehicle got into the wetsand on the river bed, how we managed to get the vehicle out, well thats another story to tell.
