15-Oct-2004 -- Эта “точка” далась не просто. Запечатлев последствия землетрясения в поселке Ортолык, направились в посёлок Бельтир. Дорога состоит из участков хорошего асфальта и грубого щебня. Такой ландшафт, который походил на лунный или марсианский, я увидел впервые. Мы с Женей были очарованы своеобразной красотой природы. В Бельтире те же последствия землетрясения (руины зданий и трещины в земле) и ни одного дерева. В поселке за мостом останавливаюсь, левое заднее колесо полностью спущено, а правое заднее спущено на половину. Шиномонтажки в Бельтире нет. Поменяв одно колесо на запаску а второе подкачав, возвращаемся в Кош-Агач по темноте и ночуем в машине. Когда проснулся утром, то через стекла ничего не увидел, они были в узорах от мороза. Включил двигатель и обогреватель, смотрю на температуру за “бортом”, -10, днем было +14. Хорошо, что теплые спальники. Утром, дождавшись открытия шиномонтажки и починив три прокола в двух колесах, направляемся на Бельтир, но уже более осторожно, особенно по камням и в поселке, так как вокруг некоторых домов много битого стекла от бутылок. За поселком справа озеро, затянутое прозрачным льдом, где резвятся и катаются местные ребятишки. Проезжая мимо камней наблюдаем трещины в земле (последствия землетрясения). По проселочной дороге подъезжаем к речке Кускуннур, которая оказывается непреодолимым препятствием с её берегами из крупного камня. На другом берегу стойбище. Берём с собой необходимые вещи и оставляем машину на попечение жителей стойбища. По карте до конечного пункта километров 6. Резко поднимаемся в гору и оказываемся на живописном плато. По пути любуемся панорамой Южно-Чуйского хребта, окружающей природой и древними захоронениями алтайцев. Подходим к месту, но точка находится в метрах 30 на другом берегу речки, которую одетым никак не перейти. Снимаю обувь, обнажаю ноги и по скользким камням из ледяной воды выскакиваю на другой берег. Обуваюсь и сразу же на “место”. Дело сделано.

15-Oct-2004 -- This "point" did not come easily. Having etched in my memory the aftermath of the earthquake in the settlement Ortolyk, we headed for the settlement Beltir. The road consists of sections of good asphalt, and of rough rubble. Such landscape, which resembled a lunar or martian landscape, I saw for the first time. Eugeny and I were fascinated by the distinctive beauty of the environment. In Beltir there was the same aftermath of the earthquake (ruins of buildings and cracks in the ground) and no trees. In a settlement past the bridge I stop, the left back wheel is completely flat, and the right back is half flat. There's no car-care center in Beltir. Having changed one wheel with the spare, and having pumped up the second, we return to Kosh-Agach in darkness and spend the night in the vehicle. When I woke up in the morning I couldn't see anything through the windows, they were covered in patterns of frost. I turned on the engine and heater, I look at temperature "overboard", -10, it was +14 in the afternoon. It is a good thing that the sleeping bags were warm. In the morning, having waited for the opening of the car-care center and having repaired three punctures in two tires, we are directed to Beltir, but already more cautiously, especially around stones and in town, since around some homes there is a lot of broken glass from bottles. Beyond the village on the right is a lake, covered with transparent ice, where local childred play and ride. Passing by stones, we notice cracks in the ground (a result of the earthquake). On a country road we approach a small river Kuskunnur, which looks like an insurmountable obstacle with its bank made of large stones. On the other bank is a settlement. We take with ourselves the necessary things, and we leave the vehicle in the care of the inhabitants of the settlement. On the map it is about 6 kilometers to the destination point. We climb steeply uphill, and arrive on a picturesque plateau. On the way we admire a panorama of the Yuzhno-Chuiski ridge, the surrounding nature, and ancient burial places of the peoples of the Altay republic. We approach the place, but the point is located about 30 meters away on the other shore of a small river, which we are not at all dressed to cross. I remove my footwear, roll up my pants, and on slippery stones in icy water I jump across to the other bank. I put my shoes back on, and at once am at the "place". The deed is done!
