24-May-2008 -- The day after I conquered the confluence points 47°N 12°E and 46°N 12°E I decided to try 45°N 12°E. 12°E is my home latitude (I live 10km east of 49°N 12°E) hence a visit was of special interest for me.
Some kilometres south of 46°N 12°E the Alps ends and one has to drive on flat terrain. After some hours of driving I reached the town of Villanova Marchesana. The road forks east of the town and I took the south east branch (SP33). Just at the beginning of the village with the signs Papozze/Santi I turned left into the Via Peschiera. This road leads you to a abandoned farm and I parked my car with 260m beeline to the point.
I walked on the tractor tracks and later on the edge of a ditch. I was satisfied with 30m distance to the point, because I did not want to damage the farmer's work.
Back at my car I remembered all the confluence points I made on 12°E (from 54°N to 45°N) and how the landscape changed. For me it is one of the fascinating aspects of the Confluence project to see how the world looks like on the same latitude or longitude where you live.
Two interesting geographic aspects: a few kilometres south of the CP the river Po the biggest river of Italy flows and joins easterly the Adriatic Sea, which I visited after the hunt. Nearby is the town Adria, which probably gave the sea its name.
