10-Oct-2011 -- This would be the fourth of eleven confluence visits on a trip to Colorado coming from 34N 106W.

I was just north of Interstate 40 on US-84 when I stopped just beyond mile marker 64 and before a Pass With Care sign to begin a hike over relatively flat terrain to the zeropoint. I passed under a set of power lines about 2/3 of the way at about the same time I received a call from a friend who had been watching my real-time progress on his computer at work using the Track Progress feature of my SPOT. This feature sends my position at 10 minute intervals and allows people to follow me from their computer over the web. We spoke for awhile and he said he would continue to follow the progress of my adventure.

At the confluence, I could see I-40 to the south, a cell tower to the southeast on a bluff, and snow capped peaks in the distance. It was windy but a beautiful day to be out and about. I started data logging on my Trimble Juno before taking the required pictures.

Pathfinder Office Post Processing 621 data points from my Trimble Juno reveals an average position of 34° 59’ 59.96377”N, 105° 00’ 00.01433”W with a horizontal precision of 2.0 meters and an altitude of 1633.250 meters with a vertical precision of 1.3 meters.

From where I parked it was 629 meters west of Highway 84 and I spent 27 minutes away from my vehicle. Although it was a very easy confluence, I had to pick out a lot of stickers out of my socks from the grass.
