Line hunting as a rest stop

The drive started in Vancouver, British Columbia and aimed for an 11 am meeting in Seattle. The trip started early to avoid the long wait for border crossing at the Peace Arch (49th parallel). Turned out, there were only 3 cars ahead of me when I reached the border – a new record, and it pays to start early. After entering the US, normally it is a straight hour and half drive on Interstate 5 to reach Seattle. Given there were almost 2 hours to spare, I trained my GPS toward this confluence point.

When I reached Everett, the GPS distance was down to 13.5 km, and it appeared highly feasible to hunt for this point. I got off the freeway, and pretty much used the arrow of the GPS as the navigation guide. After passing a large lake, and crossing a river, the GPS led me within 50 meters of this confluence point.

The most straight forward manner to get to the all zeros is a gated driveway which posted no "hunting" or trespassing. I suspect nobody was home since the gate was locked. I walked around the street, and entered the woods by the road parallel to the driveway and got about 10 meters from the all zeros point. This part of the wood was pretty dense and full of fallen trees and giant ferns; it would be a real struggle to complete the last few meters – good enough for an unplanned hunt.

The detour for the hunt added just about an hour to the trip. It was a nice break from the 300 km drive. I reached Seattle with still an hour to spare before the meeting.
