24-Apr-2005 -- During the last week I made 5 confluence visits in Oregon and California (the trip report starts with 46°N 123°W), before flying to Orlando, FL on saturday. After picking up my rental car, I drove NE up to Daytona Beach, so I would be ready to try this confluence first thing in the morning.

From the previous reports I knew that it could be hard to locate an open access point to the confluence, but careful study of my topographic maps had provided a few alternative approaches.

I first tried the road which was used by the first successful visitors, but this was closed with a padlocked gate. My two next attempts along Hwy 44 met similar bars, so I tried my backup plan: I drove 5 miles south on I-95, then took the next exit and turned back west on a narrow gravel road. On the topo maps, this road leads to a side-road going quite close to the confluence, but unfortunately this road was also closed, padlocked and posted, with no less than three different signs!

So, instead of feeling sorry for myself, I turned around and went towards my next confluence, 28°N 81°W, one degree further south.
