26-Jul-2005 -- After a week or so touring through the Lake District and a short visit to Scotland we returned back to the south of England which gave us the opportunity to visit CP 51N 0EW.

Starting out from near Leatherhead we took the A-roads to Lewes, passing the Bluebell railway station Sheffield Park on to Sheffield Park itself. Realizing we had gone a bit too far we turned around trying to find the farm track mentioned in previous visitors reports, the search hindered by overhanging trees all along the road which made GPS reception poor. Eventually finding the only suitable candidate, we turned of the main road and parked the car. Deciding the track was definitely more off-road than road we decided to walk the last 400 metres.

A few minutes of pleasant walk later we arrived at the CP, greeted by the whistle of the Bluebell steam train who's smoke we could see a few hundred metres in the distance. The field was full of corn but using tractor tracks similar to previous visitors we made it to the CP and took the usual photos.

A short walk back to the car and then we were off to visit Beachy Head near Eastborne. On the way we saw signs for the Longman which is only a couple of miles off the main road (see picture). Beachy Head was not kind to us - it rained and rained and rained - but we had an interesting walk along the cliffs anyway. A few more days in Blighty were spent before our trip back to Salzburg but no CP visits on the way back this time.
