03-Aug-2005 --
After two days spent on the seashore at Ocean City and Assateague Island Maryland (where wild ponies roam), and Bethany Beach, Delaware, we were headed back to our daughter Pamela's home in Towson, a suburb of Baltimore, Maryland. As we approached the Bay Bridge via Highway 404 we realized that we were south of Centreville and this confluence. On the spur of the moment we decided to try and find it. After a bit of driving in one direction then the other we found the corner of Little Eagle Road and Greenville Road.
We drove along Little Eagle Road and parked near the big tree north of this confluence. It was about 6:15 PM on a hot and sultry day. The temperature was 93°F. Mist can be seen rising from the land in the view west. The three of us walked approximately 200 meters through a field of a sparse crop we did not recognize. This new crop was growing through the stubble left from a previous crop. This stubble scratched our legs around the ankles and drew blood on some of us. There were the remnants of old corn cobs on the ground.
After taking the required photos at the confluence we made our way back to the van. The air conditioning was a welcomed respite from the heat and humidity. We stopped at a Truck Stop 3.6 km north of the confluence for ice cream before heading across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Because we stopped to visit this confluence we missed the heavy Baltimore rush hour traffic on the way back to Pamela's. This was our most eastern and most southern visit as well as Pamela's first confluence visit.
