11-Feb-2006 -- We departed from Lviv at 00:40 on a train Chernivtsi-Brest with our bikes packed in special cases. At around 5am we got off the train in Lutsk. It was much colder there than in Lviv. We were expected by our web-friend from Lutsk already. A few seconds for making acquaintance with Olexandr and we are already in a warm building at the station preparing the bikes and ourselves for a ride to the confluence. At around 5:30 we started moving to the confluence. Streets were dark and empty. At the average speed of about 17km/h our hands and feet froze. When we stopped for a break I got warmer. We tried to move like one group, side by side, it was more safe on a narrow road. Most of drivers were polite and kind. In some cases we had to get off the road because of big trucks. 30 km later we got to the village Perespa, where we had some tea in a restaurant called “Shynok”. Then we got off the main road and started tripping small roads. 15 km left and we were almost at the right place. Now we had to get off the road and walk the last 300 meters in deep snow to get to the confluence.
We did it. The result of bicycling 45 km to the confluence was taking a picture and celebrating with a hot tea…
Now we had to go back to Lutsk.
