19-Jun-2006 -- My friend Oliver and me were on a little trip beyond the artic circle around midsummer in 2006. We travelled through the Baltic states and used the ferry from Tallin to Helsinki. We spent 2 nights in Inari village. A nice little German movie "Zugvögel nach Inari" was shot at the INARI HOTEL. We also went to this hotel and had some wonderful beers at the bar.

On our way to Kirkenes in Norway we passed 69N/27E which is quite close to the road. The road is about 156m above sealevel. The confluence itself is about 250m above sealevel. You have to climb a hill and the confluence is just behind the top.

I forgot to note the exact altitude but the gnats were extremely anoying. For that reason I forgot to take a photograph of my gps showing the exact altitude. My Alan Map 500 indicated an accuracy of about 2.2m (DOP 1.0!).

When we left the CP I saw something on a tree which must have been the skull that previous visitors left here. But because of the gnats we were eager to leave soon.

We then continued our trip to Kirkenes and spent the night in a tent in Grense Jakobselv exactly at the Russian border.
