29-Jan-2007 -- To go from Glenn Innes to Armidale a simple detour would take us very near a confluence. So that's what we did and took the detour. It was worth it The winding road took us over and around the hills vegetated with long grass and sparse trees. What a lovely drive it was!
I found a shady spot for my family to wait while I walked my 2 kilometre return trip. I could have gone around the hill and walk longer but I'm a firm believer in the straight line whenever it's possible. Besides, a bit of exercise is always welcome. So I went over a hill, some of it was bare granite as a lot of this area of New England is.
After crossing a few fences I got there. I saw the quick and the dead on that journey: The quick being the cows running away from me and the flies too fast for all my swats. I think I even swallowed a few of them (flies, not cows) The dead were a few decaying and very pungent rabbits and sheep. Got back to the car triumphant and after a couple day's rest I'll be O.K. to attack 32S 152E
