07-Aug-2008 -- Before I visited this confluence point, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Gordon Spence said it was scenic, but from a quick look at a map, the location didn't look particularly interesting. But then I took a closer look at my map, and saw that it was in the "Boggeragh Mountains". I'd never heard of those mountains before, but figured that perhaps this confluence visit might be interesting after all.

And interesting it was. From Killarney, I drove through Rathmore and Millstreet, then turned onto a series of country roads that took me past "Millstreet Country Park". I then took the final country road - a narrow one-lane paved road that took me just 450 meters East of the confluence point. However, the final 450 meters required slogging up a steep hill (part of a sheep farm).

Finding a fortunate break in the intermittent rain (summer? bah!), I made it to the confluence point, which was at an elevation of 426 meters. My starting point (on the road) was 302 meters, so the vertical elevation gain turned out to be 124 meters (for 450 meters horizontally). Quite a climb! Gordon Spence was right - this is a scenic point!

Afterwards, I visited the nearby "Knocknakilla Stone Circle" - a meeting place for some of the very early residents of this area.
