Chegar até a confluência geográfica 14S 42W foi conseqüência do P.I.C.O. (programa de índio completo e organizado) que definimos para a última semana de férias.

Em 25 de junho saímos de Belo Horizonte em dois veículos 4x4 em direção a divisa norte de Minas com a Bahia, com o objetivo de visitar 4 confluências geográficas da latitude 14, todas localizadas na região de Caatinga, vegetação típica do nordeste brasileiro.

Na manha de 28/07, depois de um merecido descanso no Hotel Porto do Sol em Caetité-BA, eu e meus filhos, Breno e Daniel, acompanhados do amigo, Jose Jorge e seu filho Pedro, partimos em direção a nossa meta, visitar o 14S 42W, o 15S 42W e pernoitar em Espinosa-MG, cidade próxima ao 15S 43W. Partimos em direção a pequena Lagoa Real, distante 57Km por estrada asfaltada. Da cidade até o setor da confluência 14S 42W, foram mais 9,5 Km de estradas de acesso a pequenas fazendas, guiados pelos mapas Google Earth e o pelo GPS.

A confluência 14S 42W esta em uma propriedade de criação de caprinos. O local é cercado por caatinga rala, que facilita a tarefa de zerar o GPS. A topografia nos permitiu chegar com os 4x4 muito próximo da confluência e isso foi motivo de celebração pela turma.

Terminada mais essa missão, partimos para um merecido almoço em Condeuba-BA, antes da busca pela confluência 15S 42W.

To locate geographic confluence S14W42 was consequence of the P.I.C.O. (program of complete and organized indian) that we define for the last week of vacation. In 25 of June we leave Belo Horizonte in two vehicles 4x4 in direction the verge north of Mines with the Bahia, with the objective to visit 4 confluences geographic of latitude 14, all located in the region of Caatinga, typical vegetation northeast Brazilian.

In the morning of 28/07, after one deserved rest in the Hotel Port of the Sun in Caetité-BA, I and my children, Breno and Daniel, followed by a friend, Jose Jorge and its son Peter, break in direction our goal, to visit the 14S 42W, the 15S 42W and to spend the night in Espinosa-MG, city next to the 15S 43W. We break in direction the small Lagoon Real, distant 57Km for tarred road. From the city up to the sector of the confluence 14S 42W, they were more than 9,5 Km of roads of access to small farms, guided by the maps Google Earth and it for the GPS.

A confluence 14S 42W this one in a property dedicated to caprine cattle. The place is enclosed by thinning scrubland, which makes easy the task of reducing the GPS to zero. The topography allowed us to arrive with them 4x4 very near of the confluence and this was a cause of celebration for the group.

Finished this mission, we leave for a deserved lunch in Condeuba-BA, before the search for confluence 15S 42W.
