12-Oct-2011 -- This would be the tenth of eleven confluence visits on a trip to Colorado coming from 38N 104W.
I turned off the paved CO-94 and went north on County Road 149 and then west on County Road 34 stopping at the top of a small rise beyond a farm house. I walked down a double track and passed a very dry corn field. I made my way up a hill and under a barbed wire fence where I would share this space with a bunch of cows until I was due north of the house I had stopped beyond. I began a now familiar routine of logging data, taking pictures, and sending a SPOT custom message.
Pathfinder Office Post Processing reduced 508 data points from my Trimble Juno to an average position of 38° 59’ 59.94936”N, 103° 59’ 59.94762”W with a horizontal precision of 2.4 meters and an altitude of 1861.513 meters with a vertical precision of 1.8 meters.
From 167 where I parked along CR-34, it was a 4.5 km round trip hike that took me an hour and fifteen minutes. The dirt roads off Highway 94 were in very good condition.
The next few days would be spent at my 25 year Academy reunion. But first, I had to meet up with a classmate, that had visited 41N 123W with me, and then go to the airport and pick up our wives. They would be arriving in the early evening.
The final confluence of this adventure was found at 34N 107W.
