05-Jun-2012 -- This would be the ninth of twelve successful visits on a clockwise loop east of Colorado Springs continuing from 38N 99W and would be the sixth of seven on this day.
I was able to park 17 meters north of the confluence just east of a power line T intersection. I squeezed through a barbed wire fence and took a few steps through a grassy field to zero this point out. It was rather windy and it was wide open in all directions.
I found a flowering weed hosting a beetle and lady bug within a meter of where my GPS units had resolved the zeropoint. I went through my routine of sending a Spot message and taking single shot panoramic pictures while logging GPS data.
Picture #6 shows a TerraSync screen shot on the left captured at the confluence and the resulting Pathfinder Office post processed GPS data on the right.
Picture #8 is the original image captured by my panoramic lens as captured by the camera. Picture #9 is that same image rendered as a QuickTime Virtual Reality movie. You can interactively zoom in and out throughout the image when displayed.
It had been 5 years since the last reported visit to this confluence. My next objective was 38N 101W, would I make it before dark?
