(visited by Ross Finlayson)

01-Nov-2012 -- One of the things that I enjoy about the "Degree Confluence Project" is that while visiting a confluence point, you often learn interesting things about the nearby area that you probably wouldn't have learned otherwise.

In this case, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the confluence point lies within a Florida State Park - Troy Spring State Park - an inlet off the "Little River".

Almost immediately after driving through the park entrance, I found myself only about 300 feet east of the confluence point, which lies in a neighboring pine forest. Here, the pine trees have been planted in neat rows, each running west-to-east. Therefore, to reach the confluence point, I parked off the side of the road at exactly 30 degrees north, and simply walked westward between two rows of trees until I reached the point (just 300 feet away).
