14-Jun-2014 -- This is the second out of 3 reports reaching confluence points in Central France.
The story starts from 48°N 6°E.
From 48°N 6°E, I pushed my bike further westwards. It was a perfect day, hot, but not too hot. When I got to Foulain (18 km distance) at 6 PM, I decided to give it a try to visit the confluence on the same day. The last village I came through was Richebourg (5 km distance). From there, a huge uninterrupted forest begins, where the confluence point is in the middle of it. At a distance of 3.7 km I left the road and continued further on a well maintained
forest track. The last 400 m, a badly maintained side track got me within 200 m. There, I abandoned my bicycle and walked to the point. Suddenly, I saw wild pigs (sorry no photos available, they refused to be mugged). But I could follow their path which directly leads to the confluence point. You see, pigs don’t even need a GPS receiver!
Most trees around the confluence are hazelnut trees. The humidity must be generally high since all the trunks are covered with moss. There is also some undergrowth with ferns, clover and various flowers.
When I reached my bicycle coming from the visit, I had my dinner. It was very simple meal which is rather usual for me: cereals with milk! But it gave me power to ride the last 40 km to the town Chatillon-sur-Seine before it got dark.
