21-Jun-2016 -- This confluence was about the only accessible on for me on my vacation trip from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I had looked at all of the ones in South Dakota and this one didn't require a half mile walk along side a rail road track and wasn't very far off the I-90 route.
Our vacation plans had us arrive in Wall, SD Monday 20 Jun 2016 late evening after driving all day. Spent most of Tuesday seeing the sites driving the wildlife loop in the Black Hills park before driving to Rapid City.
After checking into the hotel and before supper I decided to get this completed. The 13 mile drive was on highway 44 past the airport. We arrived approx 18:00 local mountain time 21 Jun 2016.
This confluence point is 3.5 miles from the southern most ends of the runway of the airport and roughly 9 miles from where my map places Rapid City, SD.
For safety I parked on the gravel road, Caputa loop. My wife took a Garmin GPSr and wandered around to get the zero's while I was doing the same and planning the pictures.
There was one nice young lady and her friend saw us wandering around the side of the road (senior citizens), the car(with Minnesota plates) parked about 100 yards to the west, "is every thing OK?" I replied, yes "did you know that latitude 44 degrees and longitude 103 degrees cross right here"? She didn't know that and as long as everything is ok..... I thanked her for stopping and checking.
Took the pictures and left to go eat something other than picnic food we had eaten the rest of the day.
