15-Oct-2016 -- This is the last out of three reports reaching confluence points on the island of Sardinia. The story starts from 39°N 9°E and continues from 40°N 9°E.

After dinner I dismounted both of my wheels and brought them into my hotel room. I changed the worn out tyre to my front wheel in order to have less weight on it. Secondly, I put patches on the most worn out parts of my tyre. Last but not least I patched my tube and my spare tube. This way I would be able to continue riding for a while, but I was aware that it would just be a question of time until I would not be able to move on anymore.

The next morning, I cycled into the lowlands. The hotel owner had told me that there is a bicycle shop in Abbasanta which is 20 km away. But when I reached the shop, a sign told me that the shop was closed on Saturdays. So I continued my trip further northwards, hoping to be luckier in the next town Macomer which was another 20 km away.

Half way I heard already a noise for each turn of the wheel. The tube started to come out of the tyre creating a bubble. And as expected, another 4 km later the air came out of the tyre. Since I was not able to add any harm to the tyre, I simply continued riding those 6.5 km to Macomer on that flat tyre. I was very lucky: in the general shop, I found exactly one exemplar of the right tyre. Now I was able to continue cycling without worry.

Like the day before, I had to cross several mountains before reaching the confluence point. And again, the sun was threatening to go down early in October. From the main road SP74 (which is actually a small county road), a tiny asphalted track leads further to the confluence. The beeline distance of 3.5 km is almost doubled by the road distance due to the serpentines that this road uses to make it through the rugged terrain.

At a distance of 900 m, I parked my bicycle. The track ahead was not ridable. I was actually a great walk on an overgrown track that took me directly to the confluence point. I simply had to scale a wall consisting of loose natural stones (in 10 m distance) and found the confluence point in remote bushland surrounded by rolling hills.

After the visit, I ran back to my bike, took the same way back to the main road and cycled to the old town of Aggius. On my way, I came through the Moon Valley – interestingly the full moon was brightly shining over it.

The next day I finished my bicycle trip in Olbia and went back to Zurich via Milano.
