07-Apr-2002 -- (Looking to the south #1)
Having spent a night in our tent in the "Valle di Luna" (the moon
valley), an area covered with enormous rocks we followed the road
leading from Tempio Pausania via Aggius to Viddalba, but left it when we
reached the chapel "San Pietro di Ruda". A small but asphalted road
turns to the north with a lot of ups and downs, an exhausting job with a
heavy loaded tandem. But this road brought us close to the CP, up to 800m we were able to drive.
We left our bike at the gate of a small
farmhouse and followed the direction which showed the GPS. At the right
hand side there was a forest, but we went along a fire flight corridor
as long as possible. Finally we turned to the right (northward) into the
forest down the hill. We passed a dead cow and struggled through the
undergrowth, but at the end we reached the fire flight corridor for
the second time, which lead us downhill along a stone wall. According to
the GPS-Signal, the CP was at the other side of the wall at a
distance of 10 meters. We took some photos of the place,
nothing spectecular compared with the picturesque surrounding. The way
back to our bike was (as all confluence visitors do know) much easier
- a forest track leaded back to the small road. As a service for all
CP-visitors: there is an agritourismo (holidays on a farm) at the small
road, where you can stay overnight if you come late and don´t have a
tent with you.
