26-Jan-2021 -- Another ‘forgotten’ Degree Confluence Point - visited twice before, but more than 14 years ago. Despite being somewhat remote, it’s actually quite easy to visit, as it’s an easy 900m each-way hike from Kidman Way (highway B87).

I turned off the highway at [-32.00655,145.99273], and was able to drive from there to within 900m of the point. The resulting hike (900m each way) was very easy, as this is flat, open land. The area around the Degree Confluence Point has been cleared for ranching; downed trees lie all around. This appears to be a change from the previous visits (in 2001 and 2006); back then, the reports showed several trees were growing near the point. However, I didn’t see any cattle nearby, and it’s not clear how viable this land really is for ranching, as there isn’t a whole lot of grass growing here.

Unfortunately I didn’t bring my drone with me for an aerial view of the point, as I was scared of an ominous-looking rainstorm that was approaching from the West.
