30-Jun-2001 -- I caught the ferry to Smith Island where I found two waterman, Robbie and Carl Tyler, who found my quest strange enough to go along with their flat bottomed boat to take me to the marsh. Robbie and I then took a mystery tour of the (back) waterways til a lightning storm forced us out. I missed the ferry back so I spent the night in Ewell. The next morning Carl and I went back. This time I got within 400 meters. I then walked the rest of the way, sinking into the mud to my knees and swimming the occasional stream (or mud pit). All the pictures look the same because it looks exactly the same. Unless you are Ranger or SEAL rated; I do not recommend that you visit.
