(visited by Jonathan Beck, Cheryl Halverson and Mike Halverson)
28-Jun-2001 -- We were attending a wedding in the nearby town of Big Fork, MT, and I talked my mom and her husband Mike into attempting this confluence with me. It was my 12th visit and my mom's and Mike's first. We drove up some forest roads, as this is located within the Flathead National Forest. I had printed out a custom topo map at Rei earlier in the day, using their excellent new map machine. We parked the car on the road and had a 0.25 mile hike in to the confluence. It was tough going with a lot of underbrush and steep hills. We finally got to the confluence, posed for a few pictures, and hiked out. We nearly got lost on the way out, somewhere taking a wrong turn. I had forgotten my compass, so I was navigating purely with the gps, which is not ideal under heavy tree cover. I won't try that again. |
