15-Sep-2001 -- This confluence is located in Southern Idaho on a sage covered slope about 2.2 miles east of the Idaho-Nevada-Utah corner. It is on open range about .5 miles west of Goose Creek (see picture #4). There were many cows in the area of the confluence; some of them seemed very concerned that we were there and were mooing very loudly. Our adventure to find this confluence brought us to the graded road that runs from Utah Highway 30 near the Nevada border to Oakley Idaho. This 2WD road in in good condition with only minor washboarding. About .4 miles after we crossed into Idaho from the south we pulled off the road into a meadow that surrounds Goose Creek. We found a shallow area where we could drive across the creek. After reading about Brent Bolan's attempt on this conflunce in May 2001 we were prepared for a full force attack by mosquitoes. We were pleasantly suprised to find the meadow dry and didn't see one mosquito. We then parked our Jeep and continued for about .4 miles west on foot to the confluence. We recorded the point and left a cache to mark the spot. |
