08-Oct-2001 -- At last, a Confluence that was EASY to reach. I had looked at the maps and even the aerial photographs and it sure looked like this would be a simple job. What really irked me though was that I had driven within a kilometre of this Confluence a dozen times before I even heard of the Confluence project. Even though I live 500km away, this Confluence is only 10km from the town of South West Rocks – our favourite holiday and diving location.

With the Confluence loaded in the GPS as a waypoint, it was simply a matter of driving towards South West Rocks on the south side of the Macleay River, once I had passed abeam of the Confluence, I took the next road on the right and as the next turnoff on the right came up, the Confluence was still on the right so I turned right again. A left turn came up next so I turned left and within half a kilometre the Confluence was directly on my right.

I stepped out of the car and took these photos! The confluence is in a fertile flood plain beside the Macleay River and is currently used for cattle grazing. Spring had produced hot weather, so there were a few bushfires in the area and one smoke plume was quite visible, even though it was at least 20km away.

Considering how easy it was to reach this Confluence, I am amazed no-one has bagged it beforehand!
